Healthy Pear Bread

This healthy organic pear bread is one of my favorite loaves of bread ever. It is moist and flavorful, no butter required. It is also so quick and easy to make.

I love pears! Did you know that pears have more fiber, folate, and potassium than apples? Well, they do. Plus, they are delicious! I could write an entire post about how much I love pears. I also love bread! And yes, I could write an entire post about how much I love bread. Honestly, what better than to pair the two things I love together? Pears and bread, what a fabulous combination!

So, today I am going to share my beloved pear bread. This is a “quick bread”, so no kneading is involved. It really is so quick and easy to make. Plus, I have turned my pear bread organic and used whole wheat flour, so now it is even healthy! I have been perfecting this recipe over the years, and the “non-organic” version is very tasty as well. As always, feel free to substitute regular ingredients if you do not have the organic version. This pear bread is great for breakfast, dessert, afternoon snack or whenever the mood strikes! I hope you love my pear bread as well!

Organic Pear Bread Ingredients:

⦁ 1 and 3/4 cups of organic whole wheat flour
⦁ 1 cup of organic cane sugar or substitute
⦁ 1 teaspoon of baking powder
⦁ 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda
⦁ 1/2 teaspoon of salt
⦁ 1 teaspoon of organic cinnamon
⦁ 1/8 teaspoon of nutmeg
⦁ 1/2 cup of organic butter
⦁ 2 extra-large cage-free organic eggs
⦁ 1/4 cup of organic milk (I use 2%)
⦁ 1/4 cup of organic Greek yogurt (I use 2%)
⦁ 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
⦁ 1 organic pear peeled and chopped (about 1 cup)

⦁ First, preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
⦁ Then, grease or spray a loaf pan (I use a 9.25 x 5.25 x 2.75 in.)
⦁ Now, add the following ingredients to a large mixing bowl (flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon and nutmeg). Mix until combined.

⦁ Next, cut in the butter until it is crumbly.
⦁ In a separate bowl, add the following (eggs, milk, yogurt and vanilla extract). Mix well then add to large mixing bowl and mix until moistened.

Chopped Pears⦁ Next, fold pears into the mixture.
⦁ Spoon mixture into greased loaf pan.
⦁ Bake at 350 for about 55 minutes. Oven times may vary. It is best to do a toothpick test. Just insert a toothpick into the bread and if it comes out clean it is done.
⦁ Remove from oven and allow to cool for 10 – 15 minutes.

Instructions

  2. Grease or spray a loaf pan (I use a 9.25 x 5.25 x 2.75 in.)
  3. Add the following ingredients to a large mixing bowl (flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon and nutmeg). Mix until combined.
  4. Cut in the butter until mixture is crumbly.
