Low Carb Marinara Sauce

Ingredients

  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic
  • 28 ounce can of peeled and crushed tomatoes no sugar or preservatives added
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried ground sage
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt or to taste
  • freshly ground pepper to taste
  • pinch cayenne pepper

Instructions

  • In a large saucepan or skillet, over low - medium heat, add the olive oil and then saute the minced garlic for 1 minute.
  • Add the crushed tomatoes to the pan and then the rest of the ingredients. Stir to combine all ingredients and slowly bring the sauce to a simmer over low to medium heat. Reduce the heat if the sauce starts to splatter.
  • Keep the sauce at a simmer for about 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Remove from heat and serve warm or transfer to an airtight jar or container and refrigerate until ready to use.
