- 3 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 tablespoon minced garlic
- 28 ounce can of peeled and crushed tomatoes no sugar or preservatives added
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/4 teaspoon dried ground sage
- 1/4 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt or to taste
- freshly ground pepper to taste
- pinch cayenne pepper
In a large saucepan or skillet, over low - medium heat, add the olive oil and then saute the minced garlic for 1 minute.
Add the crushed tomatoes to the pan and then the rest of the ingredients. Stir to combine all ingredients and slowly bring the sauce to a simmer over low to medium heat. Reduce the heat if the sauce starts to splatter.
Keep the sauce at a simmer for about 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Remove from heat and serve warm or transfer to an airtight jar or container and refrigerate until ready to use.
