Ingredients

  • 4 tablespoons ground cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons ground ginger
  • 2 tablespoons ground cardamom
  • 2 tablespoons ground nutmeg

Instructions

Chai Spice Mix

  • Add the cinnamon, ginger, cardamom, and nutmeg to a spice jar or small mason jar. Seal the jar and shake well to combine. Store in an air-tight container at room temperature until ready to use.

Chai Tea

  • Use 1 heaping teaspoon of chai spice per 8 oz of water. Steep in near-boiling water for 3-5 minutes with black tea. Stir well. If desired, add warm or steamed milk and sweetener of choice to taste and stir well or froth. I use almond milk and stevia.

Notes

Spicy Chai

Add 1 teaspoon of each of the following spices to make a spicy chai mix.
Allspice: Allspice is only one spice, also known as Jamaica pepper or myrtle pepper. It tastes like a combination of cloves, cinnamon, black pepper, and nutmeg, which makes it a great addition to a chai spice mix.
Cloves: Ground cloves add a warm, pungent, and slightly sweet flavor with a noticeable spiciness and bitterness.
Black Pepper: Freshly ground black pepper.
