Cheddar Cheese Bread

Cheddar Cheese Bread

This Cheddar Cheese Bread is made in a bread machine and it comes out so soft, moist and delicious. It is a cheesy, buttery bakery-quality loaf of bread.

Fresh, warm, savory cheddar cheese bread is too tasty to resist. This bread is so dangerous! I had to take pictures before I sliced it and I finally just gave up because I had to have some, like right now! This bread is so good that you can eat it plain. Feel free to slather on some butter but it really does taste awesome all by itself. It is cheesy and flavorful without being too cheesy. This bread has a great texture!

This cheddar bread is great for making sandwiches and paninis or pairing with a soup or salad. Try using it to make a grilled cheese sandwich, then serve it with some Tomato Basil Soup. It also goes really well with Turkey Chili or Chicken Noodle Soup. If you would like a dip or spread for your bread, try serving it with some Roasted Red Pepper Sauce. Yum!

I hope that you enjoy the Cheddar Bread!

Bread Machine Cheddar Bread Ingredients:

  • milk – room temperature
  • all-purpose flour – I use organic all-purpose flour.
  • shredded cheddar cheese
  • unsalted butter – softened or melted.
  • garlic powder
  • salt – I used kosher salt
  • granulated sugar
  • active dry yeast

Appliance:

  • 2 lb. Bread Machine

How to make Cheddar Cheese Bread in a Bread Machine:

First, add the room temperature milk and softened or melted butter to the bread pan. I microwaved the butter in a small microwave-safe bowl for 30 seconds.

Next, add the rest of the ingredients, except for the yeast, to the bread pan.

Finally, make a small depression into the flour with your finger and add the dry yeast to the depression. Make sure you do not allow the yeast to come in contact with any liquids.

Cheddar Bread Ingredients in Bread Machine

Select the basic setting on the bread machine and the light crust option, then press start. My bread machine took 3 hours and 45 minutes.

Once the bread is finished, allow it to cool for at least 10 minutes before slicing. Enjoy!

This was seriously delicious! I was worried 2 tsp of salt would be too much but it wasn’t at all. Great recipe!

    1. Thank you, Debbie! I do not have a plain white bread recipe but I do have other options, like my Italian Herb Bread recipe, where you can just omit the herbs if you want to make it plain.

    I. Roasted two whole bulbs of garlic and used them. My family loves garlic! And also add some freshly grated Parmesan cheese to the top the last hour of baking cycle. My home smelled absolutely amazing! Bread was so good! Thank you for sharing!❤️❤️❤️

    1. Thank you so much for the compliment, Tonya! I’m happy to hear that you enjoyed the cheddar bread. I love garlic too and the roasted garlic sounds divine! Wonderful idea!

This is the best bread machine recipe I have made so far, and I have tried several. Our cheese bread came out perfect and was moist, not dry like some of the other bread machine recipes I’ve tried. I am going to look through your other recipes since it was so good. Thank you!

  5. How would I cut this recipe down for 1.5 lb loaf bread machine. I have an older smaller machine and would love to try this recipe!!

    1. Hi Fawn,

For a 1.5 lb. loaf, you would multiply all the ingredient amounts by .75 since you will be making 3/4 of the original 2 lb. recipe. For example, instead of 1 cup of milk, you would only use 3/4 cup of milk. I hope this helps and that your cheddar bread comes out perfect!

  6. best chredder ch ever (if you like this). ’tillamook’ but the one that is smoked or something can’t remember…comes in a smaller pkg, navy & clear, a bit more expensive but sooo good! stater bros has it in the round deli section..instead of w/the other tillamook ch.

  7. I see that you put the cheese around the outside in your bread machine. Does it stay there and form the crust? Or does the machine combine it with the other ingredients during kneading?

    1. That is just how I add the ingredients to the pan. The cheese will be mixed into the dough while kneading and will flavor the bread throughout the loaf. I hope this helps clarify.

This is a great recipe! I added dill and a few other herbs to this cheese bread and it tastes wonderful! It turned out perfect in my bread machine.

  9. Any thoughts about dry milk reconstituted? We only drink almond milk, and I don’t think it would taste very good here! ? I’ve just found your website, and am having fun going through and saving recipes. Keep it up!

    1. Hi Patti,
I have not tried dry milk, so I can not say for certain. However, I think it would work just fine if it is reconstituted. So glad you are having fun looking through my recipes, I hope you enjoy!
