Baked Ravioli Recipe Variations
This baked ravioli recipe can have so many variations and can easily be adapted to your personal preferences. I used refrigerated cheese ravioli since that is my daughter’s favorite, but there are so many ravioli fillings to choose from.
For this recipe, I used my Homemade Marinara Sauce, which yields the perfect amount of sauce for this baked pasta. I highly recommend trying my marinara recipe, it is easy and delicious, but you can also use a store-bought sauce. This is a vegetarian ravioli if you make it with my sauce. However, you can easily add meat to the sauce, like ground turkey, beef, or sausage. You can also add things like spinach or mushrooms to the sauce for additional nutrients.
Baked Ravioli Bolognese is another delicious variation. You can use my Turkey Bolognese Recipe instead of the marinara sauce. The Bolognese sauce is made in a slow cooker. This allows you to let it cook during the day, so the baked ravioli will be quick and easy to make for dinner.
I would love to hear about any variations that you come up with. I hope that you enjoy the Baked Ravioli!
If you like this recipe, you might also want to try my Creamy Italian Ravioli, which is my personal favorite, or my Sage Butter Ravioli. Both ravioli recipes are quick, easy, and absolutely delicious!
Baked Ravioli Ingredients
Baked Ravioli only requires 3 ingredients!
- Ravioli – I used store-bought refrigerated four cheese ravioli. You can pick whichever filling you like.
- Homemade Marinara Sauce or store-bought.
- Mozzarella Cheese – shredded.
Optional Garnish
- Parmesan Cheese – freshly grated.
- Fresh Basil – chopped.
How to Make Baked Ravioli
To make Baked Ravioli, first, preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Spray a 9×13 baking dish with non-stick cooking spray.
If you are making Homemade Marinara Sauce, you will want to do this in advance, it takes about 30 minutes. If you are using store-bought sauce, add it to a saucepan and heat through over low to medium heat.
While you are cooking the sauce, boil your ravioli according to the package instructions and drain when finished. Add salt and 1 tablespoon of olive oil to your pasta water so that it does not stick.
Add the cooked ravioli to the sauce and gently stir to combine. Transfer the saucy ravioli to the prepared baking dish.
Sprinkle the mozzarella over the ravioli in an even layer. Place on the center rack and bake for 20 – 25 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
Note: Do not go by my pictures of the melted cheese for reference. Once finished, the cheese should look more melted. I took my ravioli out of the oven early to take pictures, then put it back in the oven before I served it.
Once the ravioli is finished baking, carefully remove it from the oven and garnish with fresh chopped basil and parmesan cheese if desired. Serve hot and enjoy!
