Whole Wheat Banana Nut Bread is so moist and delicious! It is great for breakfast, an afternoon snack or even for dessert. No yeast or kneading required.
I really love this banana nut bread! Baking this bread actually puts a smile on my face. There is just something so lovely about having a slice of fresh, warm, homemade banana nut bread. Personally, I love having a slice with a cup of coffee. It’s such a nice treat!
This recipe for banana nut bread is pretty healthy and it’s also easy to make. No yeast or kneading is required to make this bread… it’s a “quick bread”. If you don’t like nuts, feel free to omit them and this recipe makes wonderful plain banana bread. Make sure that you use ripe bananas when you are making your bread, those little brown spots are a good thing! Ripe bananas are sweet and soft, which has a lot to do the taste and texture of your bread.
The bread will stay moist and delicious for days, as long as you store it in an airtight container, ziplock bag or wrapped in foil. I must warn you that this banana bread is so good that it goes fast! This recipe makes one 9×5 loaf of whole wheat banana nut bread. If you have a larger family, or are having company over, I suggest that you make two loaves. Just double the ingredients and split between two 9×5 bread pans. I hope you enjoy!

How to make Whole Wheat Banana Nut Bread
First, preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Spray a 9 x 5 bread pan with non-stick cooking spray. Mash your bananas with a fork and chop your walnuts then set aside.
In a large mixing bowl, add the whole wheat flour, salt, baking soda and cinnamon. Stir to combine. In a separate bowl, mix the butter and brown sugar until fluffy. Add the beaten eggs, applesauce and vanilla to the butter and sugar and mix well. Now, add the “wet” mixture to the large mixing bowl with the flour and mix well. Finally, add in the mashed bananas and walnuts and stir to combine all ingredients.
