Ingredients

  • 4 ounces water hot, not boiling.
  • 8 ounces milk or non-dairy milk of choice. *
  • 1 teaspoon matcha powder adjust to taste *

Chai Spice Mix

  • 1 teaspoon chai spice adjust to taste *

Optional:

  • sweetener of choice. add to taste.

Instructions

Hot Latte

  • Bring water to a near boil, but not boiling, just very hot water. Add the hot water, matcha powder, and chai spice to a large mug, then whisk to combine and brew the matcha.
  • Heat the milk in the microwave, in a microwave-safe mug, until hot but not boiling. I usually heat for about 2 minutes on high, but microwaves can vary. As an alternative, you can heat the milk in a small saucepan on the stove. Pour the hot milk into the mug with the brewed matcha powder and chai spice, then whisk or froth with an electric frother. Sweeten as desired then do a taste test and adjust to your liking.

Iced Latte

  • Brew the matcha powder and chai spice in hot water the same as above.
Tip: For an iced chai matcha latte, I use a little extra matcha powder and chai spice so that it does not become as diluted by the ice.
  • Add the cold milk of your choice to the mug and stir well or froth to combine. Add ice to a large glass then pour the chai matcha latte over the ice. Sweeten as desired and enjoy!

Notes

  • I use unsweetened almond milk but any milk works. Whole milk will make a creamier latte, while almond milk will create a low-calorie beverage. Oat milk and other non-dairy milk work as well.
  • I use organic ceremonial-grade matcha powder.
  • 4 Spice Chai Mix Recipe- This homemade spice blend is quick and easy to make, and has the perfect balance of warm spices to create a delicious matcha chai latte! I recommend making a full batch in advance to have it on hand. You can also brew 2-3 chai tea bags as a substitute or use your own chai blend.
  • I use stevia to keep my latte low-calorie and sugar-free, but you can use the sweetener of your choice.
  • You can add more matcha or chai spice to suit your preference.
