Garlic Roasted Almonds have an amazing flavor and taste better than store-bought nuts! This is how to roast almonds from the comfort of home.
Garlic Roasted Almonds
These Garlic Roasted Almonds make a wonderful snack and are great to serve at parties. However, please be careful, they are highly addictive and should be consumed responsibly!
Honestly, I go nuts for nuts! I just keep eating them until they are all gone and I feel like a glutton. They just go down so fast! “Note to self: I must learn to put a small portion into a small bowl and eat them very slowly.” The truth is that I will just go back, grab the big bowl, then proceed to eat them like popcorn! Yes, I have a problem.
Speaking of popcorn, my daughter helped create these roasted nuts and she thinks they taste and smell like popcorn. This is a huge compliment since buttery popcorn is one of her favorite foods! I almost named them popcorn nuts, at her request, but thought that might be confusing to some.
These roasted almonds are so easy to make and they really do taste so much better than store-bought, since they are fresh and you control the seasoning. We actually bought a bag of “gourmet” garlic almonds and they were inedible! They were also extremely overpriced, probably because they slapped the word “gourmet” onto the bag. The store-bought almonds were horrific and went straight into the trash! Never again. Homemade nuts are the best!
We hope that you enjoy the garlic-roasted almonds as much as we do! If you would like to make a sweet nut recipe, try these super yummy Maple Bourbon Pecans, Vanilla Chai Almonds, or Spiced Rum Nuts!
Roasted Garlic Almonds Ingredient List
Only 4 ingredients are needed to make these roasted garlic almonds.
- almonds – raw unsalted whole almonds.
- avocado oil – you can also use olive oil as a substitute. I prefer avocado oil since it has a higher smoke point.
- garlic powder – NOT garlic salt.
- seasoned salt – kosher or sea salt can be used as a substitution. I prefer kosher. You can also sprinkle some additional salt once finished if you would like them to be saltier.
Supplies
- rimmed baking sheet or sheet pan
- parchment paper – Keeps the clean-up super quick and easy!
How to Make Roasted Almonds
This is how to roast almonds in the oven properly. I have tried many different methods and this produces the best result.
First, preheat your oven to 325 degrees Fahrenheit and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Add the almonds to a bowl, then pour the avocado oil over the almonds. Stir until the almonds are all completely coated. Spread the almonds into a single layer on the parchment-lined baking sheet. Place the baking sheet onto the center rack of your preheated oven. Roast for 10 minutes at 325 degrees Fahrenheit.
Note: If you would like your nuts to have a darker roast, with more depth of flavor and crunch, you can use up to 1 additional tablespoon of oil. They also may require less time in the oven with more oil.
While the nuts are roasting, add the seasoned salt and garlic powder to a small bowl and stir to combine.
Once the almonds have roasted for 10 minutes, carefully remove them from the oven. Stir the almonds, sprinkle with the garlic salt mixture, then stir again to coat them with the seasoning.
Place the seasoned almonds back into the oven and continue roasting them for an additional 4 – 6 minutes. Watch them carefully so they do not burn. I roast my nuts for a full 16 minutes since I like a little crunch. Roasting nuts longer also brings out more flavor. However, ovens can vary, so you should still keep an eye on them during the last few minutes. Burnt nuts are not tasty!
Remove the almonds from the oven and allow them to cool completely on the baking sheet. Do a taste test and sprinkle with additional salt if desired. I sprinkle them with an additional 1/4 tsp of kosher salt sometimes.
Serve the garlic-roasted almonds fresh or store them in an airtight container to save for later. Enjoy!
