Low Carb Marinara Sauce is delicious, healthy, and so easy to make! This simple homemade keto marinara tastes better than store-bought!
Marinara is a simple tomato sauce, yet it has such a complex and robust flavor. It is also one of the most versatile sauces. This marinara sauce recipe is vegan and it has no sugar or preservatives added, unlike most of the jarred tomato sauce at the store. It is just pure tasty, healthy goodness!
As always, good-quality ingredients are important. I made my sauce completely organic. I used organic crushed tomatoes with no added sugar or preservatives, organic garlic, organic olive oil and I even used all organic seasonings. This is just one of the reasons that I will always prefer making my own sauce. I know and control everything that goes into it and I can pronounce all of the ingredients, unlike the jarred stuff at the store. The other big bonus is that it tastes way better!
While this marinara sauce is low in carbohydrates and calories, you don’t have to just use it for low-carb or keto recipes. It’s a great sauce to use for dipping, as pizza sauce, it’s the perfect pasta sauce for spaghetti or my Baked Ravioli Recipe, or you can add it to any Italian dish that needs a good tomato sauce. For a few low-carb meal suggestions, you can use it as a dipping sauce with my Parmesan Chicken Tenders or served over zucchini noodles or spaghetti squash, or as a keto pizza sauce on top of my Cauliflower Pizza Crust.
Whatever you decide to do with it, I hope that you enjoy the Homemade Low Carb Marinara Sauce!

- Can of peeled and crushed tomatoes – no sugar or preservatives added. I used Organic Crushed Tomatoes.
- Basil

- Freshly Ground Pepper
- Cayenne Pepper – You can omit if you do not like anything even a little spicy or add extra if you would like more of an Arrabbiata sauce.
How to make Low Carb Marinara Sauce
To make Low-Carb Marinara Sauce, in a large saucepan or skillet, over low – medium heat, add the olive oil, and then saute the minced garlic for 1 minute.
Next, add the crushed tomatoes to the pan and then the rest of the ingredients. Stir to combine all ingredients and slowly bring the sauce to a simmer over low to medium heat. Reduce the heat if the sauce starts to splatter. Keep the sauce at a simmer for about 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Once the sauce is finished, remove from heat and serve warm or transfer to an airtight jar or container and refrigerate until ready to use.

This is very good and so easy to make. Thankyou! How long will it keep in the refrigerator?
Thank you for the nice compliment, Katherine! This marinara will keep for about 5 days if stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
How many carbs per serving?
There are 3 net carbs per serving.
i really like san marzano but will have to check the sugar content
I have made this MANY times and my family prefers this over store bought!
I do sterilize a very large glass jar and have used plastic wrap over the jar and then screw the lid on, but do find the sauce still gets mold. Besides freezing some, have you had any luck with something else to prevent mold? I store on the tolp shelf of the fridge.
Any ideas would be appreciated!

What Brand of crushed tomatoes do you use? There are so many and it could take forever to find a good one. Thank you.
