Spiced Rum Glazed Nuts are flavorful and delicious! This spiced mixed nut recipe is super easy and makes perfectly roasted nuts every time!
Spiced Rum Glazed Mixed Nuts
These spiced rum-glazed mixed nuts are perfect for snacking. With the scent and flavors of rum, vanilla, brown sugar and spice, these nuts smell and taste so nice! These roasted mixed nuts with rum glaze not only taste better, but they are also healthier than store-bought specialty nuts or “gourmet nuts” since you control what is on them. They are great to serve at parties or bring to potlucks and they make a lovely gift during the holiday season as well.
I would say these are some fancy nuts, and I am a self-proclaimed nut connoisseur. Really, I have a genuine love of nuts and I am pretty sure that I have tried all the nuts. At the very least, I have tried most of them. These spiced rum nuts have a wonderful flavor combination and I love the crunch! You can eat them straight out of the bowl for a snack or dessert, but you can also add them to yogurt, popcorn, ice cream, oatmeal, and salads to add some yummy flavor and crunch.
I hope that you enjoy the Spiced Rum Glazed Nuts!
Healthy Nut Mix
I used a healthy nut mix consisting of almonds, pecans, and walnuts. I also threw in some cashews for my daughter. Due to their high carb count, I tend to avoid cashew nuts, but I do drink cashew milk. You can use a variety of healthy nuts with this recipe but I prefer the mix of almonds, walnuts and pecans since they are all low in carbs and high in fiber. My little squirrel eats all the cashews! If you want a healthy keto nut mix, just stick with almonds, pecans and walnuts, or other low-carb nuts like macadamia nuts and hazelnuts.
While most nuts are healthy, different nuts have different health benefits, which is why a good mix of nuts is extra beneficial. Various types of nuts have different ratios of plant-based protein, fiber, healthy fats, and carbohydrates. They also have different levels of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants.
Almonds, for example, are the highest in fiber, calcium, vitamin E, riboflavin and niacin, and they are one of the lowest in calories.
Pecans are also a great source of vitamin A, vitamin E, folic acid, calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, potassium, several B vitamins and zinc. While the pecan is higher in fat it also has the lowest net carbs, making it the perfect keto snack.
Walnuts are higher in omega-3 fatty acids than any other nut. They are also a great source of manganese as well as copper, folic acid, phosphorus, vitamin E, iron, calcium, sodium, and more B vitamins. So, if you mix these nuts together, you will have a healthy dose of lots of good stuff!

Rum Glazed Nuts – Ingredients
The ingredients I used to make these spiced rum glazed nuts are all low in carbohydrates and keto-friendly.
- Rum – Any brand of spiced rum works. Just look for dark spiced rum rather than other flavored rum. If you do not want to use alcohol, you can use rum extract for flavor.
- Nuts – A mix of raw unsalted nuts. I used raw pecan halves, walnut halves, whole almonds, and cashews. You can use the nuts of your choice, larger nuts work best. Sometimes I just do a pecan and walnut mix since they are easily crushed to use as a topping.
- Vanilla – Pure vanilla extract.
- Olive oil – avocado oil is a great substitute since it has a higher smoke point.
- Cinnamon – I always use organic ground Ceylon cinnamon.
- Allspice – Adds depth of flavor.
- Brown Sugar – I use a brown sugar stevia blend to keep the nuts low in carbs. You can use regular brown sugar if you do not mind the carbs.
- Salt – Fine salt works best to dissolve into the liquid for roasting. You can sprinkle on some extra kosher salt or another coarse salt once finished if you would like them to be saltier.
How to Make Spiced Nuts with Rum
To make these spiced nuts with rum, first, preheat your oven to 325 degrees Fahrenheit and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
Add the rum, brown sugar, oil, vanilla extract, cinnamon, allspice and salt to a large bowl and stir well or whisk to combine the ingredients until the brown sugar mostly dissolves into the liquid.
Add the nuts to the bowl, then stir until the nuts are all completely coated. Spread the nuts into a single layer on the parchment-lined baking sheet, then place the baking sheet onto the center rack of your preheated oven.
Roast the nuts for 10 minutes at 325 degrees Fahrenheit, then carefully remove them from the oven, stir, then return them to the oven for an additional 5 – 10 minutes. Check the nuts after 5 minutes to make sure they do not burn.
Remove the nuts from the oven and allow them to cool for at least 10 minutes. They get crunchy once they have cooled completely. Sprinkle with extra salt if desired.
Once the nuts have cooled completely, serve or store them in an airtight container to save for later.
