Chipotle Tofu Sofritas is a plant-based meat alternative that is delicious and perfect for making vegan tacos, burritos, bowls, and more!
Chipotle Tofu
This chipotle tofu recipe is made with a chipotle sofrito sauce that has a wonderful flavor and is super easy to make! Chipotle tofu crumbles are similar in taste and texture to taco meat or chorizo and the homemade chipotle sofrito adds lots of flavor and healthy nutrients.
Sofritas tofu is a versatile plant-based protein that can be used to make vegan or vegetarian Mexican dishes and more. It can easily be used as a substitute for beef, chicken, or pork in Mexican recipes like these Pork Enchiladas. You can also use it to make plant-powered burrito bowls, tacos, salads, quesadillas, or anything else you can think of. For a healthy high-protein and low-carb meal, try serving it with some Cilantro Lime Cauliflower Rice topped with avocado or guacamole, it’s super yummy!
I hope that you enjoy the Chipotle Sofritas Tofu!

Chipotle Tofu Ingredients
These chipotle tofu ingredients are vegan. plant-based and gluten-free for a healthy high-protein meat alternative.
- tofu – organic super firm tofu, or high-protein tofu works best since it has the lowest water content. Extra firm tofu works as well but you will need to press out more water.
- avocado oil – olive oil works as a substitute.
- chipotle chili powder – adds a spicy smoky flavor. You can add more or less to adjust the heat to your preference.
- coriander – ground coriander adds an earthy, nutty, citrus flavor. You can use cumin as a substitute, however, coriander has a slightly sweet flavor, while cumin is more bitter.
- oregano – dried oregano adds a robust flavor that is peppery, slightly sweet, and a little minty.
- salt & pepper – I do not use much salt but I do use plenty of freshly ground pepper. You can season the tofu to your personal preference.
