Light Cosmopolitan

Light Cosmopolitan cocktails are lower in calories, carbohydrates, and sugar, so you can enjoy this skinny Cosmo cocktail almost guilt-free!

Cosmopolitan in martini glass

Cosmos without the extra sugar, calories, and carbs taste pretty much the same as a classic Cosmopolitan. Plus, this lighter version uses fewer ingredients, so it’s easier and more cost effective! Win-win!

So, what makes this Cosmopolitan light? Slightly altering the ingredients. A regular Cosmo is made with Triple sec liqueur or Cointreau. That is where most of the calories and carbs come from, along with regular sweetened cranberry juice. Triple sec has an orange flavor that is easy to replicate, or even omit, and the cranberry juice is an easy fix! This skinny Cosmopolitan cocktail is only 130 calories and less than 1 net carb!

The show “Sex and the City” made the Cosmo popular when it first came out many years ago. Now that the show is back, I have a feeling that the girls would love this lighter version! I hope that you enjoy it as well!

Light Cosmopolitan Ingredients

This light Cosmopolitan only requires 3 ingredients!

  • Vodka – orange flavored vodka works to replace the triple sec flavor. However, you can also use citron or plain vodka. The drink will still taste great!
  • Cranberry juice – light cranberry juice, or diet cranberry juice, with no added sugar.
  • Lime juice – you can also use lemon juice.

Optional:

  • lemon or lime wedge as garnish

How to make a Cosmopolitan Cocktail

To make a Cosmopolitan, add the vodka, cranberry juice, lime juice and a few ice cubes to a cocktail shaker. Seal and shake well.

Strain the liquid into a martini glass and garnish with 1 thin slice of a lemon or lime. Serve immedietly and enjoy!

Note: This recipe is for 1 cocktail. You can easily double or triple this recipe, added to the same shaker, to make 2 or 3 cocktails at a time.
