This easy hummus recipe makes the best hummus in 5 minutes for smooth and creamy homemade hummus that tastes better than store-bought!

This quick and easy hummus made with canned chickpeas has the best flavor and texture. Homemade hummus not only tastes better than store-bought hummus but is also healthier because you control the ingredients. Plus, making your own hummus is more cost-effective, and this really is the easiest hummus to make. You can have it ready in 5 minutes or less!
Traditional hummus is naturally vegan, gluten-free, and packed with nutrients, fiber, and protein. It is wonderful as a healthy dip served with fresh-cut veggies, pita chips, or warm naan bread for a snack or as part of a mezze platter, but it can be used for so much more. Use it as a spread for sandwiches, toast, wraps, paninis, or pizza, as a salad topping, or a topping for chicken or seafood, and it is great paired with this healthy falafel. The list could go on and on! You can also easily add the toppings or garnish of your choice to make it your own hummus creation. I hope you enjoy!

Here is how to make the best hummus with canned chickpeas. This easy hummus is made smooth and creamy by using a food processor or blender, and it is ready in 5 minutes!
Add the drained and rinsed chickpeas, garlic, cumin, paprika, salt, tahini, olive oil, and lemon juice to a food processor and blend in 15-second intervals, scraping the sides if needed in between intervals for 1 to 2 minutes, or until the ingredients are fully combined and the hummus is smooth and creamy.
To create an even smoother hummus, add 2 tablespoons of cold water to the hummus and blend for 1 more minute or until you reach your desired consistency. You can add a little more water if necessary. Do a taste test and add additional salt if needed.
For serving, drizzle the hummus with a little olive oil and sprinkle with paprika, or add any other toppings you like. The hummus can be refrigerated in an airtight container for about 5 days.
