Easy Hummus Recipe

This easy hummus recipe has the best flavor and texture and can be made in 5 minutes! The result is a smooth, creamy and delicious homemade hummus that is so much better than store-bought hummus.

Classic Hummus is naturally vegan, gluten-free, and packed with nutrients and protein. It is wonderful as a healthy appetizer or snack but can also be used for so much more. Hummus is great served with fresh-cut veggies, pita chips or warm naan bread. You can use it as a spread for sandwiches, toast, wraps, paninis or pizza. You can pair it with grilled meats and veggies. The list could go on and on! You can also easily alter the flavor of your hummus with various toppings of your choice. Classic Hummus Ingredients

Classic hummus ingredients are things you probably already have in your pantry.

  • chickpeas – drained and rinsed.
  • tahini
  • olive oil
  • minced garlic
  • lemon juice
  • paprika
  • cumin
  • kosher salt
  • cold water

Smooth and Creamy Hummus

How to make Smooth and Creamy Hummus

This smooth and creamy hummus is made using a food processor and is ready in 5 minutes!

First, add the olive oil, minced garlic, cumin, paprika, salt, tahini and lemon juice to the food processor and blend in 15-second intervals, scraping the sides and bottom in between intervals, for 1 minute or until the ingredients are fully combined.

Add the drained and rinsed chickpeas to the mix and blend in 30-second intervals, scraping the sides in between intervals, for about 2 minutes or until the hummus is smooth and creamy.

To create an even smoother hummus, add 2 tablespoons of cold water to the hummus and blend for 1 more minute or until you reach your desired consistency. You can add a little more water if necessary. Do a taste test and add additional salt if needed. 

For serving, you can drizzle the hummus with a little olive oil and a sprinkle of paprika on top, or you can add any other toppings you would like. The hummus can be refrigerated in an airtight container for about 5 days.

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons cold water add more if needed
