Spicy Peanuts

This spicy peanuts recipe for roasted seasoned peanuts includes spicy Mexican peanuts, Tajin chili lime peanuts, and Cajun peanuts.

Spicy Peanuts

Spicy roasted peanuts can be hot, medium, or mild, depending on the spicy seasoning that you choose. This is the spicy peanut flavor variation from my original Spanish Peanuts recipe. I made so many different peanut recipes with a variety of flavors to choose from. Salted peanuts, candied peanuts, and these spicy seasoned peanuts. I got a little nutty and felt like I had declared September National Peanut Month!

This roasted peanut recipe uses a different preparation method than the others to make the seasoning stick to the peanuts without burning the seasonings. The salted Spanish peanuts are simple, since salt does not burn in the oven, but some seasonings do. This recipe will show you how to make perfectly roasted peanuts seasoned with lots of flavor!

Flavorful and crunchy, these spicy peanuts make a yummy high-protein, low-carb snack and a tasty topping for salads and other dinner recipes. If you like these spicy seasoned peanuts, try these glazed Sweet Cinnamon Peanuts next. They are a delicious sweet snack and are wonderful combined with the spicy peanuts for a sweet and spicy peanut mix. Add some of the salted peanuts into the mix, and you can have a peanut party like I did. I hope you enjoy!

Spicy Seasoned Peanuts

The spicy seasoned peanuts come in a variety of flavors, including savory, spicy, and tangy, and can be made mild, medium, or hot. The following spicy seasonings include chili lime seasoning, spicy Mexican seasoning, and Cajun seasoning.

Cajun Peanuts

This spicy Cajun peanuts recipe is made with Homemade Cajun Seasoning that has a wonderful combination of flavors with a nice spicy kick. It is so quick and easy to make, and tastes better than store-bought Cajun seasoning. I highly recommend making it for the spicy peanuts since it can also be used with other recipes, like this delicious Cajun Shrimp Pasta, which is one of my favorite recipes!

How to Make Roasted Seasoned Peanuts

To make spicy roasted seasoned peanuts, first, roast the peanuts with oil, but without seasoning. You will add the seasoning for the second half of the roasting time to prevent the seasonings from getting burnt, since some seasonings may burn if they are in the oven for too long. I have tried several methods for making seasoned peanuts, and this method makes perfectly roasted seasoned peanuts.

Preheat your oven to 325°F and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.

Add the raw shelled peanuts to the prepared baking sheet, then pour the avocado oil over the peanuts. Stir well until completely coated. Spread the peanuts into a single layer on the parchment-lined baking sheet. Place the baking sheet onto the center rack of your preheated oven and roast for 10 minutes.

While the peanuts are roasting, select the spicy peanut seasoning of your choice, then follow the instructions below to ensure the seasoning sticks.

How to Get Seasonings to Stick to Peanuts

To make the seasoning stick to the peanuts, you need to roast the peanuts in oil. It is the oil that helps the seasonings stick to the peanuts.

Add the seasoning ingredients of your selected spice blend to a small bowl, then stir well to combine.

Once the peanuts have roasted for 10 minutes, carefully remove them from the oven, then sprinkle with your choice of seasoning. Stir again to coat the peanuts in the seasoning.

Return the seasoned peanuts to the oven and continue roasting them for an additional 6 – 10 minutes, watching them so they do not burn, since the size of peanuts and ovens can vary. For example, I used Spanish Peanuts, which are smaller than other types of peanuts. The peanuts should be golden and fragrant, not too dark or burnt.

Once the peanuts have roasted to your liking, carefully remove them from the oven, give the pan a shake, then allow the peanuts to cool completely for at least 10 – 15 minutes. Sprinkle with additional salt if desired.

Serve and enjoy, or store them in an airtight container to save for later.

Notes

Roast the peanuts with just the oil for the first half, then add the seasoning for the second half of the roasting time to prevent the seasonings from getting burnt, since some seasonings may burn if they are in the oven for too long. Check on the peanuts after 5 minutes during the second half of the roast time so they do not burn. The size of peanuts and ovens can vary.
